on their way from the children's war
Of course I know it's really ward.
and rest at the railing by my door
But mostly it's a quieter sort of war - that children's war in my mind - where unicorns carry lances with pillows tied over the sharp parts and My Little Ponies lob raspberry bubbles at one another from sparkly canons. And the skinny ghosts smile hopefully.

Such a wonderful image, your last paragraph is.
Great inspiration for the writing I have ahead of me today!
Thanks, Al! Glad I could help, in a small way. You take your muse where you can find it.
By the way, in My Little Pony, I'm SO Rarity, apparently.
Just saw the documentary Beauty Is Embarrassing and it made me think of you, and of other people who delve headlong into their passion for the creative, forward-thrusting element of our species. It's a good thing. I felt really inspired, and I was sorry I stay so ridiculously busy that not only do I not have (or make) time for the blog rounds, I don't make enough things my own self. I feel a papier maiche project will be happening quite soon.
Hope you're well. Glad you're still rocking in the free world. :)
I hope you find some time to unleash your creative self, Phlegmmy, and soon! You make the most incredible jewelry. The world should not be deprived.
I shall have to check out Beauty is Embarrassing. Embarrassingly, I don't know it.
