check, mate

Final Parcheesi game of the holidays came down to the wire.
First one to roll a one takes it all.
I'm green, the OFKAR is blue.

Dang!

I still love Parcheesi though.

What's your favourite board game?

I play the game of Go. I've played it since the mid-80's and these days, I get together about once each week with my old friend Vox for a few games. I like the game because it is hugely challenging on strategic and tactical fronts. It's beautiful and poetic and at the same time brutal, hinging on life and death battles. And, there's always room to grow and learn. The more I play, even after all these years, the more I learn and the stronger I get at the game. It isn't for everyone though. Even though the rules are simple to learn, learning to play takes perseverance and patience and study.

That sounds exactly like my kind of game, Mr Anvchovy! I'm going to have to look that up. I assume it's a board game, and not the card game Go Fish. Because the strategic possibilities of that game are somewhat limited.

Settlers of Catan. Not a big fan of chance games.

In fact, any of the "euro style" games - Puerto Rico, Endeavour. Even Axis and Allies (which we have but haven't played for years.

Barcheesi - Nice to have those little Christmassy traditions isn't it? And board games always seem to rally everyone in an entirely different way.

Kinda gave short shrift to that yellow player in the pictures though didn't you?

Did the crokinole board ever make it out of the basement?

All of my favourite games we never play along with the board. Trivial Pursuit, Pictionary, etc. I guess Scrabble would have to be my favourite then.

Not a board game but I still have to go with kerplunk.

The only one I have heard of is Settlers of Catan, Teddy. Obviously I need a remedial course in board games.

That yellow player didn't stand a chance, Sean! Sadly, the board game sessions were somewhat truncated this Christmas. In fact, the Crokinole board did not even make it out of the basement.

Although I sometimes play the board games boardless, I actually prefer the board, Al. Maybe because I can then see how badly I am whooping the others.

An exercise in frustration, that one, Toccata! But fun nonetheless.

I admit Scrabble is still my favourite - haven't had a good game since your mom banned Willi and I from playing...

Haha you two used to go at it tooth and nail, Kathy! Too funny! (Both, a couple of poop disturbers)

I used to love to play "Toc" (don't know if it's called that in English, but in QC we call it that), and Yum (dice)

I don't know either of those games, Stinkypaw, but I sure like that there are lots of games out there for me to learn about.
