and you thought I was just being lazy

Turns out I am prescient. There's a reason I haven't bought any annuals yet.

The rule of thumb here is that you don't plant before June 1. I would like to make a proposal to change that to June 15.

That just works out so much better for me.

I heard this forecast yesterday, then saw the snow on the news this morning. Gr. I feel for you.

It's also snowing in the high country in this part of the Rockies. Glad I'm only at 6,000'.

We've had a little bit of everything today, Wandering Coyote - snow, sun, rain, hail. Still waiting for the locusts, though.

Yeah, I'd sure hate to be high up or anything, Justrun. The nice thing about living at altitude though, is you go to sea level and all of a sudden you turn into superwoman. Energy to burn!

You know what, I don't even think I am going to bother this year, Leazwell. We are going to be gone a lot this summer and the perennials can look after themselves. I should get rid of that pot of dead grasses on the front porch from last year, though.

Feel free to set up a benevolent fund for me, Kelly. To send me someplace nice.

This cold weather really is the pits - I figured that since the tomatoes aren't exactly sprouting out all over I would go with the flow and went out and bought a bunch of broccoli plants - they love this weather and the cabbage worms don't - works for me.

Kudos to you for using the weather to your advantage, Kathy. I do the same, but it involves far less work, ie none.

Look on the bright side, you get to make the last snowman of the year in Canada.

Hopefully the last, Remi, hopefully.

You want June 15, you got it. The hell with rules of thumb—there are enough stupid rules as it is.

Actually can we make it June 30, Charlie? You know, while we are flaunting rules.

I heard on the radio that you were expecting the S-word.

this is the year of the neverending winter. i feel for you. i hope the snow melts quickly, and you get at least a few months of lovely weather.

perhaps a move to a more temperate clime is in order? ;)

There was much S-ing of many types going on around here that day, Gifted.

I think we are getting down to the short straws at this point, Al. But I have made the executive decision to buy NO annuals this year. First time ever. It's rather freeing.

Heh, here too. People wonder why I buy so many annuals as small plants rather than start from seed: tomatos, squash, cucumbers etc.

In other news, most of my annual gardens were planted right around the first.

You had the snow too, JustA? Around here I have to buy tomatoes as full grown plants or I get nothing from them before Christmas.
