I feel all served and protected

I received this security advisory at work this morning:

Campus Community Advisory

Moose tranquilized and safely removed from campus

Alberta Fish and Wildlife Officers successfully tranquilized
and removed a young moose from campus this morning.

The moose wandered onto campus at about 8:20 a.m. and broke
through a window in the link between Reeve Theatre and
Craigie Hall. Fish and Wildlife Officers had been in the
area and were able to tranquilize the moose shortly
after 8:30 a.m.

Alberta Fish and Wildlife Officers were to monitor and then
release the moose.

This message has been sent to all members of the University of Calgary community.

If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact Campus Security at xxx.xxx.xxxx

I feel so much more secure now, knowing that no moose is going to come busting through my window. If I had a window, that is.

In other news, I just discovered that the lyrics to ABBA's Take a Chance on Me are "honey,
I'm still free", not "I'll be up till three", as I had thought for decades.

My favourite phrase currently is "crisp white shirt".

Guess who's coming back to North America tomorrow? YAY!! Anybody going to Lolapalooza this weekend? I'm counting the days till Seattle myself.

Also tomorrow, we will proudly bring you the Zombie Awards for Best Of Moments at this year's Calgary Folk Festival, as threatened promised.

And it was delightful to finally meet up with you!

We recently had a three way debate over lyrics here. The song in question was Pearl Jam's "Daughter"...

The line (that I could right, high five) was:

"Young girl, violins, center of her own attention"

Fiona's take was: "Young girl, VIOLENCE.....". *insert buzzer sound here* WRONG.

Tyler's: "Young girl, BY ALL MEANS...". OK, what are you smoking?

One of the rare times I was right.

Damn nuisance mooseseses. Prankster.

I see I got so excited about telling you that I know how to repeat things correctly that I forgot how to speak!

*The line (that I GOT right) I got wrong. sigh.

I think it's pretty good that you work at a place where a moose can get to your workplace alive, even if you don't have windows.

I missed the train on ABBA lyrics altogether, but didn't Jimi do a tune with the lyrics scuse me while I kiss this guy...and didn't Creedance sing something about there's a bathroom on the right?

Good to know Campus Security is on its toes.

I love discovering misheard lyrics! Although often times what we thought they were is much funnier than what they actually are.

Look forward to the Zombie awards. :)

I am so incredibly lame when it comes to hearing lyrics correctly sometimes, Dr M, it's not even funny. I'm glad you are on top of things though.

Finally meeting you certainly made my Best Of list, Stephanie! You are even cuter in person.

You have to embrace those times when you not only get the line right, Deb, but you get to rub other people noses in their mistake. It's the best of all worlds, really.

This moose encounter had a happy ending, Mister Anchovy, but sadly the moose that was running along a major throughway and toward the airport a couple of days ago was not so lucky.
Those are some great classic misheard lyrics, and I'm really happy there is never a shortage of them.

They may not have the panache of mall cops, Al, but those Campus Security guys are a crack swat team!
Wouldn't it be fun to write a new song made up entirely of misheard lyrics? It would be an epic.

I wish I lived or worked in a place that offered moose advisories.

We get black bear sightings too, Bubs, and the odd cougar, although those are usually at Cowboys bar on a Thursday night.

ha, ha, we are a tad disconcerted when after years we have been misinterpreting something. I think I didn't sing the doxology in church right until well into my twenties. I I missed it to this day I don't know.

And after all those years, I have a difficult time accepting the correct version over mine, Leazwell. Don't know if you've ever tried to change the doxology or not.
