socializing of deluvian proportions

Why is it that my socializing follows the same pattern as my concert going? Do you have the same issues - 765,743 commitments in a week and a half and then ... nothing ... for months? This week I have hosted two dinner parties. Which is actually pretty clever, if I do say so myself, because one massive cleanup with a secondary touch-up covers both events. And I am all for keeping the toilet scrubbing sessions to a minimum.

In a few minutes, the Resident Offspring and I are leaving to meet my niece, who is on a roadtrip for reading week, for lunch at the busiest mall in the city. On a Saturday. I must be out of my fucking mind. I won't go there at 10:00 am on a Tuesday. She's lucky I love her.

I got to thinking that perhaps I should try to pull off something like this today, but I don't think it will have the same impact with one person as it did with 207.

Still, it's pretty cool.

Very cool. Very cool. You'd have to choose your frozen position carefully.

Hopefully Saturday at the mall isn't too busy...or is that wishful thinking? Enjoy your visit with your niece. :)

Absolutely, Al. You would have to chose a dramatic, yet fairly comfortable position. My favourite part was the applause.

The mall was the most insane thing I have ever seen in my life! People do this regularly? It was great to see my niece though.

That video was way cool! Kind of makes my muscles ache just thinking about trying it though ;O)

No kidding, eh, Mel? That guy who was kneeling down really made me ache in the places where I used to play.

I'm the same way. I go to concerts in clusters (well, because the good bands all seem to be traveling at the same time) and I've done the several dinner-parties-in-one-week thing, because it's just simpler that way, as you say.

Loved that freezing in place thing - brilliant!

BB, can pull that off. Just go outside without a coat on, and trust me, you will freeze.

Gifted Typist said...

Sorry, meant to typist "you" can pull that off

I'm glad I'm not the only one, then, Phlegmfatale. If you get stuck in the same tardis, then I am in good company.

Ot better yet, without shoes and socks on, Gifted Typist. Actually, no, I would be moving pretty quickly then.

Hey BB,
I love the video, I would love to do the same thing in the middle of Home Depot on a busy Saturday! With my luck nobody would even notice.
Don't go to a mall on a Saturday but have an experience at Ikea instead. Also I insist you bring the other half.
BB

Barbara Bruederlin said...

You don't think that they would applaud you at the end, Dr M. Well they are idiots then.

hahahaha bring my other half to IKEA on a Saturday, Bruno? You sure know what buttons to push, don't you? Just because you and your spousal unit can spend 8 hours at an IKEA doesn't mean that normal people, errr, the rest of us can.

Your niece was so happy to see her auntie and cousin! I think between the 3 of you, you could have pulled off the frozen thing at the mall, Barb. Next time then?

Berni

We should have given it a try, Berni! We could have baffled those damned mall rats. It was great to get together again though.

that frozen thing is pretty wild.

glad you survived the mall. which one was it?

Barbara Bruederlin said...

It was the insanest mall in the city, 668 - Chinook. I need my head examined.

668 aka neighbour of the beast said...

good god! chinook is crazy bad. i have driven that parking lot and almost left my car in the middle of it.

Barbara Bruederlin said...

And it's even worse now, 668, as they have half the parking lot closed to do some massive mall expansion. Just what we need - more Chinook mall.
