A goat in every pot and a rainbow for me

Round of applause please for everybody's boyfriend, our man about town, the peerless and passionate Dale. Dale took third place in that blog interviewer thingy. And he's actually doing something very cool with the winnings. I probably would have just pissed it away.
Apparently they are starting the whole voting thing up all over again for October. My blog is still in posted there, if you still feel like voting for it. I'm not even sure if I would bother, with Mr Big Shot still dominating things, but every vote shows me that you care. I mean really, it's not about the quality of my blog, it's about how much you love me.
Frankly, I'm getting a trifle weary of the whole thing, but the sad truth is, I will probably still click over there and vote for myself every day because I am pathetic that way.
But, as my musically savvy friend Beth was quick to point out, there are exciting things on the horizon. And I don't really need to win laser pointers or whatever the prize is this month because all my wishes are soon to be fulfilled.

Pourquoi, you ask?

Because last night I persevered through a heavily overwhelmed site and was finally rewarded with the privilege of slapping down my 40.

Observe what's winging its way to my house!

The new RADIOHEAD discbox!

"This consists of the new album, In Rainbows, on cd and on 2 x 12 inch heavyweight vinyl records. A second enhanced cd contains more new songs, along with digital photographs and artwork. The discbox also includes artwork and lyric booklets. All are encased in a hardback book and slipcase.

Is that the best birthday present in the world, or what?

Well, congratulations on the radiohead thingie!

I didn't realize you had your blog up for voting too. I'm going to vote for you, as well as voting for myself and Dale.

Missing you terribly already!

Barbara Bruederlin said...

I can't wait till it gets here, Phlegmfatale. Thom Thom Thom!

Damn, if you vote for me, then I have to vote for you Tanya Espanya! And I thought I was done voting once September ended. Oh well, I'm in then. I miss you too, let's go for coffee again!

at first i laughed at the guy buying a family a goat, but then I thought about it and it's pretty helpful i would imagine!!

I really need to give radiohead another go - i think i am one of the only people around who wouldn't recognize them if someone was beating me over the head with their albums. :P

strangemange said...

oh barb, your blog ALWAYS reigns supreme - to hell with all those poseurs...

i just can't comment on most of your stuff 'cuz i don't have that hep cat shizz you're infused with... i'm kinda culturally lame like that, hah.

yeah, new Radiohead - life's lookin' up, innit?

BeckEye said...

I'm just voting for that crabby cowpatty chick every day now. If I can't beat 'em, I join 'em.

I finished ninth, and the site says that the top 10 vote getters get prizes, but I have yet to be contacted about a tee shirt or thimble or famous bloggers of the world toenail clipping collection. It's a sham, I tellz ya...a sham!!

Dr. Monkey Von Monkerstein said...

Ok, ok, I'll vote but I want some graft or kickbacks. You think my vote is free? Then you better think again sister.

Karen said...

Barb, did you hear that you can set your own price for their new album (including getting it for FREE)? Yes, that's right, ME giving you news on Radiohead...go figure. The world is ending, Armageddon has arrived, blah blah blah. Check it out here:

I heard about the new Radiohead album on the news this morning and I thought about you; but getting this is so cool.

And buying a goat for someone is such a good idea!

justrun said...

Congrats! I'll vote. And if there's ever a day you have the opportunity to vote for me...

Beth said...

YAY!!!!! I'm so glad you got through, Barbara! Can't wait for your review.

And I just showed my love with a vote. And I promise I won't vote for Dale today.

Barbara Bruederlin said...

What is it with kids these days, Todd, not knowing Radiohead. I blame the education system.
The goat thing is pretty cool though, I'd like a goat myself.

Oh Michelle you are so NOT culturally lame, you dork!
But new Radiohead, yes! - they can take away Christmas if they want now.

Give them a couple more days to give you your well-deserved prize, Beckeye and then if there's still nothing, we'll organize a possie and go burn something down.
Maybe you're getting a goat too.

Graft is implied in the pitiful plea for votes/love, is it not. Dr M? No? Zombie swag you shall receive, oh yes.

You are the coolest, Karen, scooping me on Radiohead news. I actually should have spotted that, but I didn't check out the download option. Now tell me that Radiohead are not cool and subversive. And smart.

Barbara Bruederlin said...

The Radiohead album news completely made my day, Evelyne, I wasn't expecting it out till next year.
And I love the goat idea, and you would certainly know personally how cute goats are. How's little George btw? Does your family still have him?

Thanks Justrun! Of course, I will scratch your back when it gets itchy!

You are too sweet, Beth! You know what's going to happen now though? There's going to be this huge anti-Dale backlash. We love our celebrities, but we also love to see them fall.
I don't get the album/cd stuff till December, but can download the files next week. Woohoo!

I really didn't get the whole blog interview thing, but its really awesome to see what it has turned into!

Wow! How great is that Radiohead deal? And the downloading part?? Fabulous. I love to see a band going shit like that. Kudos to them. I may have only heard one Radiohead album, but I plan on expanding my knowledge.

October is coming up aces for you :)

Barb, I think that Little Strombo is doing well, last time I went (at the beginning of the summer) I easily found her (the tattoo inside the ear really helped, and I remembered that 6S is the winning number); she's a nice little goat, and one day I should be able to get a scarf or something made with Mohair of our little goats

Karen said...

I scooped Barbara!!! Tee hee. Yay me. I will admit that this is a great move on Radiohead's part. I'm glad to see them make that decision. This doesn't change how I feel about their music but kudos to Thom and the boys.

John Mutford said...

I heard that Radiohead "Pay What You Feel" deal as well. Jane Siberry (aka Issa) tried that a while back actually. Funny thing is, I thought she was crazy when she tried it.

Barbara Bruederlin said...

They are turning the music industry on their ear, Al! And returning power to their audience. I just love them even harder now.

Strombo, that's her name, Evelyne! I knew I didn't have it right - sorry.
How cool would that be to have a scarf from your own goats? I'd love to see a picture of her all grown up.

Be careful, Karen, they are going to steal your heart and the next thing you know you will be wearing a t-shirt with the Radiohead bear on it.

I was thinking of Jane Siberry when I heard that too, John. I guess if you have lots of muscle you can pull it off, but if you are a small Canadian musician, it's a lot more risky. I wonder how that worked out for her?

justacoolcat said...

I guess coming in third place to a cowpie field is an honor to some.

I can't wait for the new Radiohead!

Dale said...

I wouldn't call it an honor Coolcat but maybe I would say honour! It was a small bit of fun for sure and for a good cause.

I'm voting for you Barbara! And Beckeye, I think that the Top 10 prizes are new as of October. Quit voting for Cow Patty or whatever her name is and vote for yourself!

Dale said...

Oops, happy fucking birthday Barbara. Radiohead loves you!

justacoolcat said...

Damn you Dale and your Canadian spelling. I didn't do the interview. From my brief look at the site it seemed liked he asked everyone the same questions.

K.B said...

Hi! Long time no see!

I just dropped in here to spread the word to you about Radioheads new album. I see now, and I'm really not surpriced, that you already knew.

Christmas comes really early this year. :)

Did you order the discbox? I couldn't help myself...I'm a sucker for special editions and such. I'm also a sucker for Stanley Donwoods art...

Barbara Bruederlin said...

I couldn't be more excited about the new Radiohead album, Just A - a little puzzled by the name, but love the way they are putting it out there.

That was such a great way to wrap up your win, Dale and it doesn't hurt that goats are really cute and sassy. But I never once voted for Cow Patty - you have to blame that zany Beckeye for that one.
(Not quite my birthday yet, I'm just pimping it)

Karl! How great to see you again! Yes, I couldn't resist ordering the discbox as well. I do hope that it contains a lot of Donwood's art, because I love it (almost as much as I love your art). Do you have any new pieces up? Coming over to check.

Dale said...

Coolcat - yes, the same bunch 'o questions for everyone so not really much of an 'interview' but oh, the prizes! I made ten bucks USD for hitting third place. Now who's laughing?

Barbara Bruederlin said...

Nice, Dale.

K.B said...

No new pieces yet. I will do a special kind of update on the site in about a week or so. You will recieve a newsletter when it's up. I can't say what it is so I'm saying this just to get you curious... ;)

I'm also about do publish pictures of the one painting I did during 2006. Since I only did that one you can probably imagine that it is somewhat out of the ordinary...

Take care!

Barbara Bruederlin said...

This is exciting news, Karl! Even though you are etasing me with only hints, I'm looking forward to seeing this.
