Killing me softly with their cuteness

- Mary, Mungo, Midge, and Slappy -

They were orphaned when their mother was "sadly crushed by a council palette truck", according to the Daily Mail. Oh those Brits, they have a way of making even the untimely squashing of a cute little hedgehog single mother sound oddly endearing.

So now the cubs snuggle up against this cleaning brush as a mom substitute.

Let me hear you say "awwww!!!!"

But for something extra special, click back to the Daily Mail site and check out the newborn ginger baby with the Elvis hair. You know you want to.

Awww... that is fairly sad - it's just like in psych class when they show the tests done with monkeys separated from their mother and latch onto metal figures and prefer the one with padding on it... *sigh* odd and sad stories...

but still a very cute picture :P

I wonder if they'll write a book about their sufferings-- mom replaced with a brush, for cryin' out loud... Warp 'em for life.

That is so cute! Perfect for a cold/allergies-riddled Friday.

It is a little heartbreaking, Todd. Naturally I want to adopt those hedgehogs so that their substitute mother is slightly more animated, but I fear that I am not quite bristly enough. Although some would disagree.

Hi and welcome, A Ghost's Story! That's a boffo idea. I'm surprised JK Rowling hasn't thought of it yet. They could grow up to be all dark and disturbed with special powers.

You be sick, Beth? You need a few hedgehogs to curl up with you, or at the very least, a few of those new books. Feel better.

I love the hedgehogs. So cute! But that wild-haired ginger-head baby has got to go.

I want a hedgehog or two of my own, Zed, but it's going to be a hard sell to the cat. Or perhaps too easy.

Isn't that ginger baby the oddest thing? Kinda cute though.

The little bastards will be on social assistance in no time.

Wow. They're cuter than badgers.

Awww! That is sad, they are so keyute!!! One of my friends had a pet hedgehog. whenever it was scared, it would curl up into a little ball. It was a bit tempting to see if I could roll it across the floor like that...don't worry I never attempted hedgehog rolling!

That picture is adorable...how sad though :(

They pretty much already are, Dale, they get free cat food and everything. Soon to be uopgraded to free snail and slugs.

They do beat out badgers by a hair in the cuteness arena, Bubs, and they leave sea cucumbers way back at the starting line.

Are they bitey, Just A? Neat! That just skyrocketed their coolness factor.

You never know, Mel, hedgehogs might actually enjoy being rolled. I know I like a good roll on occasion.

I know, Al, a cleaning brush. I wonder what they make of the wooden handle part.

Sound about their mum but, yes, they are awful cute.

I would volunteer to be their mom, Will.
