cheaper than airfare

If you can't afford a trip to Scotland either, you can still watch a couple of great Scottish bands that aren't even the Jesus and Mary Chain or Belle and Sebastian.

The first is I Don't Have Time to Stand Here With You Fighting About the Size of My Dick by the wonderful and highly under-rated Ballboy:

And here is Movin' On Up by Primal Scream. Bobby G must have been on some good drugs that day, but I see he still raided his mother's blouse closet.

We have friends in Scotland, so last year in a rare spontaneous moment, I went on Travelocity and booked us tickets. Gave the Visa number, got a booking reference number and everything. Then I realized we couldn't afford it even remotely and got in a panic. Fortunately, I came to my senses within 24 hours and were able to get the money back. Maybe someday...

What no Travis? In the 90's it was all about raiding your GIRLFRIEND's closet for a nice blouse, trust me I did it, but perhaps Bobby G was dating a woman quite a bit older than him.

Really, why are Ballboy not bigger over here? I love them almost just for their song titles.

Maybe I'll get the chance to see them as I'll be so close to all that plaid soon enough. Here's assuming I'm gonna have a couch, so if you can visit you'll have a place to rest your head between all the concerts, sightseeing and such!

tell john Scotland is worf going into hock to see. Loves me some Scottish men. But I hate when they don't take time to fight with me about the size of their dicks.

Acch, those darned little details, like money! I was this close to going to Scotland, John, while travelling through Europe after high school. We were just heading then when my friend was called back for a family emergency. Maybe someday...

I would not put anything past Bobby G, Fearless. The thing that concerns me is that he still dresses like that.

Wooohooo! I have an invite to rest my head! You will be right in the thick of concert country, Al. No time for studying, I'm afraid.
I think Ballboy could be bigger over here if they actually played over here or if you could buy their records over here. I should see if I can get the Folk Fest to invite them.

HA!! How true, Phlgemmy, where are their priorities? Honestly, there are some things just worth taking the time for.

We aim to surprise, Justrun!

Me too, Mel. Dance, dance indeed, but only if you dance like Bobby Gillespie!

Dude, I should have guessed! Good to see the Matty lyrics put to good use, Stephanie.

Oh, how I wish Sanjaya had covered that Ballboy song before getting kicked off American Idol.

Barbara Bruederlin said...

hahaha that would have been very fitting, Beckeye. Actually that song would cover a lot of situations. And maybe your little buddy Sanjaya could cover that as a duet with his new bff Britney.

Barb, you've now given me my two favorite song titles (Fuck This Shit being the first).

You are a music goddess, plain and simple.

That was possibly the best song title ever. This is one of the things I love about the interwebs--finding out about things I never would have heard of otherwise.

Thanks!

Innit, Will? ALL of Ballboy's song titles are absolutely boffo.

Awww shucks, Deb! (I'm scuffing my toe in the dirt)
Is it a Scottish band thing, do you think?

Bubs, you're welcome sweetie! I love the internetz for all the sharing and caring too. I won't get into some of the stuff that I've learned from you, because frankly, I want to forget some of it.
