Scratching my head, checking my wallet ...

I'm not quite sure what I think of this bit of news, but it does give one reason to ponder.

I do know that I am sorely disappointed to see Calgary missing from this list. Still though, Vancouver is not all that far away.

And finally, CBC Radio 3 has a session with Elliott Brood. Oh yeah, that glorious death country. You KNOW you want to hear it!

My performing arts teacher likes the Smiths. He's a pretty bad teacher, but I asked him about it. When he asked me what I thought of Morrissey, I told him I kinda thought Morrissey was lame (as a person, in no musical way). He looked disappointed. Oh well. Too bad for him, he's also the one who had a myspace page with career-endangering statements.

I'm also not too sure about this latest Moz-move.

Are you kidding me? Did you not listen to Ringleader? This is brilliant news, he'll write something biting and hilariuos. Moz FTW Eurovison 2007!!

earth logic heh heh

I don't think Morrissey is lame at all, Hilary, certainly not as lame as me, anyway. Your teacher has the career-endangering myspace? Or Morrissey? Do tell.

I love Ringleader, Fearless. It was my 6th top cd of 2006. I have absolutely no doubt that Moz would write something stunningly witty - not so sure about him supporting Eurovision, but hell yeah it would be fun. Okay I'm with you: Moz for the win!

Earth logic is the most puzzling sort, Stephanie.

Not even coming to Edmonton. If he was, it'd be closer than Vancouver and we could have coffee. Or a beer..... yeah, beer.

Barbara Bruederlin said...

Beer sounds good right about now, Karen. That would be fun.

But yes, all the big(gish) acts hit only Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. Bastards.

We have trouble getting big acts here too because they figure we can easily get to Vancouver. But then it means a ferry ride and a stay in a hotel. Not that easy!

By the way Barbara getting onto your comments yesterday was impossible. It kept sending me to a memo saying blogger not found!

When you are separated by a big stretch of water like that, Toccata, you have to really really want to go to the concert. Makes driving up the Deerfoot look like a walk in the park...

You killed Blogger! No, I had trouble accessing a lot of blogs yesterday as well. It was disturbing.

I know I probably stand alone on this, but post-Smiths Morrissey is the suck.

You're breaking my heart, JustA! I love the Smiths, but I also think post-Smiths Moz is very fine, especially the newest album.

Re: "Vancouver is not all that far away." That line reminded me of a line in a Gordon Downie poem, "'Well, it's as faraway now/ as it will ever be.'"

But really, my recollection of that line is self-directed pessimism, it's not at you. I hope you go and have a great time.

Perhaps my fourteen-year old self finds middle-aged people ranting about seals lame...
My teacher.
There's a huge scandal now, because (unless it's a fake) he posted pictures of him nude with a cello on it. This spawned the "Mr. L is the new band teacher!" posters (quickly taken down), and many people asking him if he played the cello.

hahaha that was me answering you anonymously back there, JustA. Blogger does not seem to recognize me these days, probably because I refuse to switch to new Coke, er, Blogger. Hell no we won't go!

Aww, you can direct that pessimism at me as well, John. I will never make it to Vancouver for the Bloc Party show. Radiohead, Belle and Sebastian, or the Decemberists, though, I'd be trying ...
Good Gord Downie citing though! I assume you've read his book?

The whole seal business did piss me off, Hilary, but it wasn't unexpected. I mean the man won't wear leather shoes!
HAHAHAHA!!! That's an amazing story about Mr L! Fun for the whole school! Thanks for filling me in.

I kept getting the "blogger not found" message yesterday too!!!!

I think Blogger is possessed, Mel! I'm going to start having a shot of holy water prior to blogging anymore.

I'm suspecting it's the magic of photoshop, Mal Snay, but don't quote me on that.

Yeah, I read Coke Machine Glow a while back and loved it. It's funny how Canadian rockstars are the only ones who can get away with writing poetry- unless that guy from Simple Plan starts. (Shudder)

Barbara Bruederlin said...

I figured that Coke Machine Glow would be good, John. Downie has the soul of a poet, I think.

haha that Simple Plan guy! Wayne Petti from Cuff the Duke once said, "We thought Derrick Wembley looked like Mickey Dolenz from the Monkees so we figured he was an asshole."
