Canadian Blog Awards

We've been nominated for a Canadian Blog Award
The Stroumboulopouli has been nominated in the Best Group Blog category, and if you are so inclined you can click on the button and vote for us.
We would reciprocate, of course, by naming our first grandchild after you.

Chad VanGaalen cd release party tomorrow night!
It's going to be great. I hope he tells some new poop stories.
I wonder if Chad VanGaalen Fan Boy will bring his mom again.

I put a link on my sidebar too. I just read the greatest article from my film class, on the CBC in the 60's, and a show called This Hour, and I'm going to write something about it on the weekend, and post. As you know, its been a looong awhile since I wrote something for that blog. I feel ashamed.

LOL, that was the story when someone stole the poo right?? Hope its a good time, look forward to your recap!

Allison, was the full name of the CBC show "This Hour has Seven Days"? Oh I think maybe that one was stictly on radio, if I'm not mistaken, and was the percursor to Morningside.

That sounds like it would make a great post.

Yes, the stolen poop story! He also told one when I saw him in concert but it's a little too weird to relate. I have a feeling he has a lot of poop stories.

Hola Barb!!

I voted, now please promise me that you will NOT name anything after me. I mean, c'mon...Grumpy Old Bruederlin would just be CRUEL. Ok, I guess you can name a dust bunny after me. That would work.

The Great and Victorious CD of Valor has been received! We will listen with great joy to the songs of Hope and Conquest over the Corporate Weasels!

Peace and Carrots,

GOB

Yes, that was the name of the show. Haha, clearly I didn't read the article well enough, I thought it was on TV. It was cancelled after 2 years.
But then why I am learning/reading about it in my tv class...damn, I have to go and re-read the bloody thing now ;)

ohhh Congratulations on the nomination!

Congrats on the nomination for the Strombo blog!!
Aha, I remember you posting the about Chad VanGaalen (Forever now remembered by me as poop guy) hehe *G* Hilarious! I bet you will have some funky/fun stuff to tell us when you get home :)

I just voted Barb, I really hope you guys win it.

Done. Congratulations that's great. Fingers tightly crossed for you guys.

We have some pretty hearty and intimidating dust bunnies around here, GOB. They have been appropriately renamed, as per your wishes.
Yay! I'm glad to hear the cd has arrived. I cannot make heads nor tales of how these things are being delivered. 4 days to the UK, 2 weeks to the US, and some I think have still not been delivered. Sheesh! Enjoy!

No don't reread it, Allison! It was on tv; I was wrong. The radio program I was thinking of was called This Hour in the Morning (which later became Morningside).

Thanks Stephanie; it's pretty sweet!

Appreciate the congrats, Mel. Yes, I am really looking forward to the show tonight. I'll bet poop guy has some more interesting tales to tell, or at the very least, great music to play. I hope he's selling some of his art; I'd like to get some.

Thanks, Ben! There are a lot of ohter blogs in the running, but it should be an interesting experience regardless of the outcome.

Thank you Kees! You may have to uncross them to get any work done, but only for a second or two.

but not poo art!!!! *horrified*

Barbara Bruederlin said...

No, Mel, I draw the line at poo art, fear not.

John Mutford said...

Congrats!

*G* thats good! I just checked out his myspace page. He is incredibly adorable looking I MUST say! I like that song Flower Gardens that plays when you open his page.

I voted and If they knew who I was they would count my vote a kabillion times because I'm kind of a big deal. Congrats Barb! Your blogmanship should be rewarded.

How does one become a contributor? I make words go good together.

Barbara Bruederlin said...

Thanks John! We feel like pretty bigshots, I tell you.

Flower Gardens is a good song and the video (which sometimes gets played on Going Coastal) is interesting as well and features his art.
Yes, he's a cutie-pie, alright.

Everybody knows you are a kinda big deal, Jetson, so I'm sure they gave your vote the weighting it deserved.
The contributors were the group that started the blog, but we sure do welcome guest contributors, especially ones what talk good. If you want to write about something that relates to our mandate, send me an email and I'll run it by the other members.

I was coming to tell you I did reread, its ok, I needed to anyways. And yes, was on TV. The whole history is truly fascinating, I have a wealth of ideas running through my head right now. I may use some 'medium is the message' talk. Hope people won't be bored.

The is a great article in the Ryerson Review from this past summer about This Hour has 7 days. If you have it in your library I recommend checking it out.

I gave you my vote too:)

It always makes me feek important when people name grandbabies after me.

Not that it has ever happened, but you know, it could. And then I would feel special. Sorry for the poor child, but special.

:)Steffi

Karen said...

Congratulations Barbara and all the Stombouloupuli (sp?)!

I voted for you today.

Barbara Bruederlin said...

I think that would make a fascinating post, Allison. I'd love to read that. (and I have to correct myself once again: This COUNTRY in the Morning - there, I finally got it right.)

I wonder if that's the article to which Allison was referring, Barbara W.

Steffi, who wouldn't want to name their grandchild after you? Of course you would need to send birthday and Christmas presents every year, but wouldn't it be worth it?

I just spell it Stroumbolongname, Karen. And thanks for your support.

Dale said...

I'm off to vote Barbara, thanks for the vote of confidence for me :-)

mellowlee said...

heehee, I keep going back to vote over again. I hope they all count. Now I can vote for Dale too :)

Just finished my daily vote. Do you know what nominee number The Stromboulopouli is? Hope you guys win!

mellowlee said...

I was wondering the same thing (which number it is)

Barbara Bruederlin said...

Right on, Dale. I hope you win!

Mel, I was pleased to see Dale nominated as well (and thankfully in a different category - wheew).

Toccata and Mel - I was wondering the same thing myself. No they don't indicate which number we are.

Shone Abet said...

Hey Barbara...

I just put in my vote. Also, long after the fact, but many thanks for the Victory CD, Jerry passed it on, and I loooooove it. Listening to it on a regular basis, great compilation!

Cheers - Shone

Barbara Bruederlin said...

Thanks for the vote, Shone! And I'm really glad you are enjoying the cd. Jerry and I both thought you had to receive one. We'll have to discuss music sometime.

So many congratulations ... and if there was a granchild out there named "New and Used Records Blog and Podcast" that'd be rad. Oh wait ... maybe I should advertise in my the name - www.newandusedrecords.com - what a good name. Can ya drop www.myspace.com/thepassionistas in the middle there. That's some damn good self-promotion.

Anyhow, I am so proud of my blog friends ... that is rad.

Barbara Bruederlin said...

Will - what's the point of having grandchildren if you can't use them for a little self-promotion? Perhaps we should tattoo that on the little beggar's forehead while we are at it. That would be pretty rad too, don't you think?

Will said...

hell yeah

Barbara Bruederlin said...

Done then, Will. The moment that sucker is born, s/he gets a glorious forehead tattoo.
