Doing the Friday Shuffle
I have no time to think of anything vaguely original today, so here's the random Friday playlist:
1. Like Soldiers Do - Billy Bragg
2. Carmelina - Matthew Good
3. Shipbuilding - Elvis Costello
4. Nimrod's Son - Pixies
5. Asleep on a Sunbeam - Belle and Sebastian
6. Man on the Moon - REM
7. Auf Achse - Franz Ferdinand
8. 4st 7lb - Manic Street Preachers
9. Fine - James
10. You Tear Me Up - Buzzcocks
Off to see Frank Black tonight. I'm not sure what to expect, as I am not too familiar with his solo work, and from what I understand he could very well tell us, after two songs, "I hate you all, I'm going home".
I hear rumours that Hot Little Rocket will open. They're a fun lively local band.
We'll see!

I kinda want to stay home tonight, Mel, but then again I often say that and end up having a great time, so thanks!

Yay for REM!! I love them!

Have a good time tonight! Totally rock right out and hurt your neck headbanging (even to the ballads, just slowly) and then come home and soak your feet and take some Tylenol and be happy that you decided to go out and totally blow everyone's rockdom right out of the water! ;)

I saw REM a couple of years ago, Alana, and despite the fact that it was a stadium show, I sure enjoyed it. Stipey was wearing a blue racoon mask of eyeshadow or something.

I shall try to do you proud by rocking out properly tonight.

(Oh, that was me for the 'removed comments'...had some massive spelling mistakes).

Fine list!
I was listening to Beautiful Midnight today, I miss old MGB days. His solo work is good, don't get me wrong (or lynch me). Just different.

Enjoy the show, rock out as Alana has suggested and take good notes to report back with. There will be a mark out of ten ;)

Hi Barbara, love the list! I saw it over on Coolcat's site and have seen you comment on MellowLee's site too. ANd here I thought I was the only one with impeccable taste. Whatever! :-)

I think that Michel Stype performed in the same blue make up raccoon mask for the Live 8 show in London last summer. He is a fantastic weirdo. *thumbs up*

So excited to hear how the Frank Black show goes. I like what I've heard of his solo work ... and I know there's a lot of it + your concert reviews are always awesome.

Thanks JACC, I did, and he is a pretty interesting dude.

OMG now I'm nervous, Allison. My review will be reviewed - ack, it's like a parallel universe or something!
Beautiful Midnight is one of my all time favourite albums. I really love both old MGB and MG solo and even MG acoustic (although that took me longer to appreciate). I think there's room in this universe for all the incarnations of Mr Good.

I do tend to have quite a lot of British music in the computer, 668. Although purists would point out to us that B&S and FF are Scottish and MSP are Welsh...

Hi Dale, welcome! Anybody with impeccable taste, who also compliments me, is welcome in this neighbourhood anytime. The Friday list is a great tradition, isn't it?

You are right indeed, Alana, I remember that now too. He must really like that look. I love fabulous weirdos, personally, especially when they are talented musicians.

Awww, thanks Will. I was surprised to find out that he has 12 solo albums. I am woefully unfamiliar with his solo stuff, but I had my eyes opened last night...

Happy to hear you had a blast! I can't wait to read about it *G*
I have the internet for about 15 minutes (Devon is gaming again) so I am madly dashing from blog to blog to catch up on my reading :)
