For a minute there, I lost myself, I lost myself

Just in time for Thanksgiving / anniversary weekend, complete with dinner guests, I am coming down with whatever Eva had last week. Sore throat, achey ears, headache.

So to make both myself feel better, and to hopefully give Serah a bit of a chuckle after the particularly shitty day she had, here are a couple of very short concert videos of Mr Sunshine himself, the founding headmaster of his very own School of Interperative Dance ... Thom Yorke. Dancing!

If Thom dancing doesn't bring a smile to your face, then you need some serious holiday time.

(warning: the first video has brutally bad sound)

That. Totally. Just. Made. My. Night.
And complete with the handclap? Tears, they are a streaming down my face.

I hope you start to feel better soon. I'm coming down with a little cold myself, not cool. I'm plying myself with meds, I'll probably be comatose by Thanksgiving.
Feel better :)

Yes, it's all about the handclaps, Allison, and the little spin in the second one! Can you tell that I've watched those clips about 17 times in the last 10 minutes?

Thanks for the good wishes; I generally don't stay sick very long, and if need be, will enroll myself for some therapeutic sessions in the Thom Yorke School of Interperative Dance. That will cure anything!
Get some good meds into you and feel better yourself, hon.

The new dance craze soon to be sweeping the nation - I am off to practice the moves right now.

Thanks so much Barbara, so sweet of you.
I think I need to go crank up the tunes and practice a few dance moves! Love it!
Ella has a great one where she makes fists with her hands and shakes around her arms and her body, she should lend it to Thom (or did she steal it from him??)

Hope you feel better soon. I am mentally sending you a nice warm bowl of chicken soup.

I've been practicing for about an hour now, Will, and my flappy hands above my head move needs more work. Maybe we could study together before the big exam, because you know how irate Professor Yorke gets when students are unprepared.

Oh no, John! That's brutal! Teachers are always on the front line, aren't they? Thanks for the get well, I hope you finally put this behind you.

That Ella sounds like a fire cracker, Serah! If I didn't know better, I would almost suspect that Thom was her daddy - not meaning to imply anything here, but I mean, you can't LEARN moves like that!
Ahhh warm chicken soup, mental or not - that's healing - thanks!

OMG, that was hilarious! He does look like he is having a blast eh? I now feel better about my dancing. I've actually smacked people by accident on the dance floor..lil embarassing *G*
Sorry to hear you are getting sick. I'm still fighting this flu/cold whatever. sucks! :(

John Travolta..eat your heart out. Tom's got the moves alright, just doesn't get them in exactly the right sequence all the time.

Thom's perfected the frog in a blender dance.

I know, Stephanie, and it's hard to watch those clips when your eyes are all teary. I love that guy!

Mel, I totally admire people who dance like that and still do it anyway. Much much better than the patented junior high shuffle. I'd love to see you get up on stage and busta few moves with Thom.
Hope you shake that cold!

Why Ben, I think you are right! I always assumed Blender was the name of the magazine from which the Thom photo came, but perhaps it was actually a reference to his dance style.

Mission accomplished (smililng!)

Yay, Deb! Thom sure knows how to make the girls smile, doesn't he?

Wow, that's funny, it really made me laugh... in the same kind, there's the video of Transmission by Joy Division, close to the end it's so funny... weird moves there too!

Hope you'll feel better soon!

Brilliant. God love him.

Barbara Bruederlin said...

Oh I have to check out that video, Evelyne. Ian Curtis was one of the original funky dancers. He had epilipsy and there is speculation that his signature dancing was mini-seizures.

And I do as well, Kees. In fact some would say he IS god.

Thanks Barb. I was awake all night reading Secret Garden, and slept all dang day. Head colds can make ya feel so dozy. I hope you are feelin better! What's your favorite cold remedy? I used to like Neo Citran, sinutab and halls cough candies. Now I just take the Dayquil/Nyquil tabs (but life brand is much cheaper and the same thing)

Barbara Bruederlin said...

Hope you're starting to feel better,Mel. I actually stayed from work today as I had a really sore throat and ears. It's evolved into pretty much just a headcold now.
I don't usually take anything for a cold, some Advil if I get bad headache or sinus pain, and drink even more water than usual, but that's about it.

wow, i feel like such a baby :) I medicate myself into oblivion!

That Thom Yorke. Now I see what you and Eva were talking about. Barb, to feel better overnight, try Dr.Bryan's Hot Lemonade-
squeeze 1 real lemon ( or lots of Realemon)into big mug, add boiling water,a huge tbsp honey or 2, and a glug of rum or whatever. Drink quickly and crawl into bed.
Get well soon!

Barbara Bruederlin said...

I don't usually find that medication does anything for me, Mel, otherwise believe me I would be pounding back the meds.

Isn't Thom absolutely precious, Berni? Every household should have one.
Thar cold remedy sounds rather delicious.

Unfortunate that I didn't procreate with a rock star. We'd certainly be better off financially. And he'd be a mighty good catch. I might need a good dose of antidepressants or something to deal with the lifestyle though, LOL!

Barbara Bruederlin said...

Oh man, Serah, I can't imagine living in the same house as Thom Yorke. I would suspect that you would need a fairly thick skin.
From what I understand though, he leads a very private life and his partner and kids are not at all part of the rock star scene.
