After 23 years you'd think I could find a way to let you know somehow, that I want to see your smiling face 45 years from now

It's actually only been 18 years, but the sentiment remains the same.
Happy anniversary, Jerry.
I love you.

So Jerry's the poor chap who has to put up with you !.....(joke)

18 years of married bliss. What's the secret ?

Congratulations to you both.

Thanks John, I've now been married as long as I lived with my parents. I think this now qualifies me as a grown-up or something.

We're not always all that sweet, Mel, but thank you!

Jerry is indeed the poor long-suffering bloke, Ben, although I would say that bliss is a pretty strong word. I don't know if we have any answers to staying married, but mutual respect goes a long way.

yay 4 marital success!!!!!!!!!! thats so rare!
im listening to your cd right now...

Barbara Bruederlin said...

Yeah, I don't know how that happened Jen - laziness maybe. I kid, of course.
That's pretty cool on the cd front - I listen to yours a fair bit as well.

Awww, those pictures are too cute! Congratulations to you both :)

My parents have been married for 27 years, I think they'd agree with you on the secret being mutual respect.

Barbara Bruederlin said...

Thanks Allison. I think that your parents must be very wise people, which doesn't surprise me in the least, just looking at their offspring - well one of them anyway hahaha.

Oh happy anniversary Barbara & Jerry! And all my best to you for 100+ more lifetimes together *big hugs!!!!!*

18 yrs, that rules... GOB 'n I have 18 together, 14 married (in August). Where'd the time go?

I mean, other than under my eyes & sagging boobs, hahah...

Congratulations, girlie!

Barbara Bruederlin said...

hahaha Michelle, that is exactly where the time has gone - under the eyes and the sagging boobs - how sadly true that is.
You and GOB have been together 18 years as well? It's scary how fast that goes by, nyet? Thanks for the hugs and same to you.

Too cute !!

18yrs, yup... we lived together for 3 yrs before we drunkenly eloped across state lines, hah! & we've been married for 15, I lost a year, oops.

Sags, droops, fine lines - I don't think I'd trade 'em in for a million bucks. :) Well, except for the underwire harness - I'd give THAT up. If I could!

Happy 18th anniversary Barbara and Jerry!!!
I was just at a 50th wedding anniversary yesterday. Graham's parents... The renewed their vows in a church and we all celebrated with them at a reception afterwards. I am sure along with their two other children who stood with them at the front of the church Graham was there in spirit. The happy couple was still celebrating when I left the party with my parents 5 hours later. Who can keep up with those 70+ party animals? You will invite me to your 50th right? There is still time to plan. Next spring it's my own parents 50th wedding anniversary, time to plan that now!
Aw love is in the air.

Awww thanks Karen, we try to be as cute as we humanly can!

hahaha Michelle, you know you've been married a long time when you have to do the math to figure it out (and then sometimes get it wrong). After a while it's just easier to say "about 100 years".
Oh yeah, underwires, don't even get me started...

Jen, you are a goof.

Thanks Kees. I realized too late that Jer and I always seem to pose for pics in exactly the same manner - very American Gothic, I think.

That sounds like it was a lovely celebration, Barbara W. We'll likely just do what we normally do for our 50th - go out to our local fancy restaurant, so sure you're invited. Not much planning involved except phoning for the reservation and I think we have time for that.

Wow, that short lil' paragraph made me cry...I'm such a suck.

Congratulations to the two of you...I hope you enjoy each other for many more.

(My "ex" and I were together since we were 14. Although we separated in '98, he still holds my heart and I think the feeling's mutual. Neither one of us moved on and I think it's wonderful when I hear of people together for so long....it's a rare commodity these days. All the best to you...sorry to make this (somewhat) about me (again). Just that it's a great thing to me to see two people who actually are committed to the long term happiness together plan!) ;)

Barbara Bruederlin said...

Oh thanks Deb - that was so nice. And for the record I love hearing other people's stories. You guys were together since you were 14 - that in itself is amazing, because of course you change so much in the years that follow that age.

That is so sweet! Congrats to both of you :)

OOoooh, Barbara - he cleans up very well and we already knew how lovely you are - congrats on 23 years and still liking each other, no small feat!

Barbara Bruederlin said...

Thanks Maureen, it's hard to believe we made it this far, sometimes. I don't necessarily mean that in a bad way, just ... well that is a long time.

Thanks Will, it was a fun day too. Food, food and more food.

Aww shucks, Phlehmmy, thanks. It's only 18 years actually, but it feels like 23 harhar.

Happy Anniversary Barb and Jerry, although my wishes come a little late! :)
You are right Barb, mutual respect goes a long way...

Barbara Bruederlin said...

Thanks Jas! Yes, I think it's all about trying to be a nice person.
