My Preciouses!
Ooooh la la, check out the great cds I scored this weekend. I'm pretty excited about them:
Lupe Fiasco - Food and Liquor
Chad VanGaalen - Skelliconnection
MSTRKRFT - The Looks
(and I've even figured out that it's pronounced "mastercraft", not "muskrat", but it took a while).
They are all really really good and I'll be hosting some selections soon. In fact, I am long overdue to write an entire article on Calgary's favourite beautiful weirdo, Chad VanGaalen, so stayed tuned for that coming up soon.
And in the "they call it stormy Monday, but Tuesday's just as bad" category, tune in tomorrow for an update on the latest comedic stylings of those zany funsters - Office Depot.

I like Chad's "Traffic"- which if I'm not mistaken you had mentioned before. (Otherwise, I'm not sure how I ended up with it.)

MSTRKRFT's "Work On You" is pretty cool too. You can really hear Kraftwerk's influence.

As for Lupe Fiasco, I haven't heard of him/her/them(?) before, but look forward to checking it out.

Looking forward to the music posts!
Enjoyed the picture, apparently when I get into hysterical laughter I sound like Gallom, and my friends nickname precious ;P

It'll be a classic, Mel. Wait a minute, I better not oversell it...
I had fun with it, though.

I'm pretty sure I posted one or two of Chad VanGaalen's songs before, John. He's a really neat and unusual character.
I love MSTRKRFT more and more all the time. And it's excellent music for the elliptical because you canjust go into a trance while running.
Lupe Fiasco is a dude. Will actually recently reviewed this cd (Will and Ben's Record Room Sept 22) and posted a video for a gorgeous song called Daydreamin'.
You might want to have a look.

Awww, how cute, Allison! I loves Golum! Precious indeed.

I did check it out. Pleasantly surprised to hear Jill Scott on it.

Yeah, she's fabulous, isn't she, John?
You are one fast checker-outer, my friend.

I'm a music addict, what can I say?

have you heard the new Dears album? "Whites Only Party" is the most catchy track for me....definitely a worthwhile purchase...oh and they will be touring through our lovely cities in mid-November...difinitely a must see concert.

Looking forward to the update as well BB - sounds like there might be more to the story than the email you sent me???? OOOh I'm all a-tingle with anticipation!

Also you've got Will and Ben's first joint audio podcast to look forward to. Keep it a secret, but Will's working on the audio logistics right now. Transatlantic DJ's playing top tunes and jabbering on about music.

Fingers crossed, Will's talent will pull it through.

You need treatment for that, John (as do I and half the people who visit here).

I've heard one track from their new album, Sean and quite liked it. For some reason, the Dears have never really been on my radar, but I should check out the concert schedule. So far I've just got Frank Black in November - plenty of room for more.

Oh I don't know if there is all that much more, Karen; I'm just a story-pimp. Except of course that YOU got a response!

Ben, I can't wait for this! My two favourite music nerds (and I mean that most lovingly) together in the same airspace. Heavenly! Please keep us posted.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on all of it - Lupe in particular.

ooh Lupe Fiasco, lucky lucky!
I have a bunch o' mstrkrft.
Looking forward to the post on "beautiful weirdos", that sounds like my kinda style!

I am hoping that I can crack into Will and Ben's. It seems that my computer has been denying me access, which sucks; closes me right out of internet explorer. Just lovely.

I have to thank you for getting me onto Lupe Fiasco, Will. I'm still digesting the cd, but liking most of what I'm hearing. I'll give you more complete thoughts later.

Oh Serah, that makes my skin crawl - nothing worse than when your computer mutinees on you. I hope that gets healed soon. I'm really looking forward to Ben and Will's podcast - I think it will be a while coming still.
Beautiful weirdos are a boatload of fun!

Have you heard MSTRKRFT's reworking of Metric's "Monster Hospital"? If not, let me know and I'll send you the mp3.
