Burp! 'Scuse me
A new Korean restaurant just opened in my neighbourhood! I have been deprived of easily-accessible bulgogi and kimchee since leaving London 8 years ago. Oh I'm sure there are lots of good Korean restaurants in Calgary, but you have to understand, unless I'm going to a concert, generally when I get home in the evening, I stick pretty close to home.
But now, all the stars have aligned, Buddha is smiling on me, the moon is in the seventh house and all that, and I've got a belly full of kimchee and bulgogi and lots of other goodies.
And the owner of the restaurant is really, really nice! I think I have a new best friend.
I have the best kimchee burps happening right now, I'm not even kidding. So when are you guys all coming over for supper? I'll order out.

I have absolutely no idea what authentic Korean food would taste like. My palate for Asian food is limited to Chinese (varied regions), Thai, and Japanese.

What kind of spices come out the most in in Korean food?

That's a really good question, Michelle. I don't even know myself, certainly a trifle sweet and salty and pickly and hot, but I can't put my finger on specifics.

I've never tried Korean food before, but I'm sure I'd like it. I love Chinese, and Thai. I struggle with Sushi though.

Will, Barbara W, Ben - I'll expect you all for supper, just let me clean the bathroom before you get here. No sushi, I promise, Ben.

we have very few restaurants in PEI that aren't "family dining" - I'm jealous

Bev, I hope hope hope you make it. 7:00ish. I went to M&M's....

Maureen, I guess you could certainly bring your family to this Korean restaurant but they probably wouldn't eat it.
"Family restaurant" means french fries with everything?

my daughter would eat it, my son would say "ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww" - and yes, almost everything here is fried, ick

Maureen, we've finally got our 14-year-old eating curry. But the Korean food is going to take some more work. She just ate the rice! (more for the rest of us)
