Look at That Face!!!!

No, not that one, the other one! My kid!!

I am so freakin proud of her, and not just because of the great questions she asked during the audience participation part of The Hour taping the other night. My favourite was when she commented on the appointment of David Emerson to the new Conservative cabinet (for which he defected his position as a Liberal representative). Eva, referring to the barrage of criticism which Belinda Stronach faced when she crossed the floor to avoid a confidence vote, stated "I don't hear anybody calling HIM a whore!"

God I love that kid!

But no, why I'm really proud of her right now is because she just got accepted into the International Baccalaureate program for high school next year! It's a good thing she inherited her father's brain, but thank god she got her mother's taste in men.

oh YAY Eva! Wow, that's one incredible girl you have there Barbara! If I use anymore exclamation marks I'm going to look like a poser but YAY!!!!!!!!!

She got your looks lady. She's bubbling over with the hawtness. *wink* Brains + the brains behind the eyes, the girl is 100% genuine.

Barbara, you have some seriously kickin' genetics.

Barbara,

Wow!! Eva said THAT!!

I am floored and impressed. I will be looking for the "Late Night Canada Show with Eva" on CBC in the near future.

I had NO idea that was Eva that said that!!! That rocks!! That's excellent that she got accepted into that program, even though I'm not sure what it entails, great job!!! yay!

Ruhee, we really do have you to thank for encouraging Eva to pursue IB. You have obviously flourished in the program. But yeah, I am so proud of her!

Michelle, I think Eva is awesome DESPITE my contribution to the gene pool. I couldn't be happier about this! (Those exclamation makrs can be addictive can't they?)

GOB, I'm sure you will be one of the first guests on LNCwE. I think your unique outlook on life is one of the things that the producers will be looking for.

Monica - yeah, that was the kid. Plus I'm so glad she got an answer to that burning question: what happened to Peter McBain?
IB is an advanced program in high school, whereby the courses count toward university credits. She will be taking IB courses in English and History and another of the social sciences, but I forget which one. Some people take ALL IB - even in math!

As flattered as I am, it is really unnerving to hear you have your mother's taste in men. kthanxbi.

Also, 'visual arts' isn't really a social science, but I can see how you would see that.

Barbara Bruederlin said...

Oh yeah, Eva, visual arts is the third IB course you will be taking - thanks for the correction; my memory is not what it never used to be.
I'm sorry for scarring you for life by reminding you that your mother is a human being. I can recall how horrifying it was for me as well. kthanxbi to u2

michelle said...

Wait. Mothers are human beings, too? *wink*

ps - I LOVE THE CONSTANTINES. omfg THEY'RE AWESOME!!! (sorry for shouting but I'm in love with the song "Young Lions") Your cd's rock, woman.

ok for serious, you have great taste in men Barbara so Eva is lucky to have your taste

AWWWWWWWWWWW! CUTE!

Jas Bhambra said...

She is a great kid, Barb! Congratulations to her for being selected for the IB program.

Michelle - the Constantines make me feel like shouting my love as well. And oddly enough "Young Lions" was the first Cons song I fell in love with too.
I am totally grooving on both your and GOB's cds as well. I was totally gobsmacked (pun only partially intended) by the Henhouse 5 (+2) - they're real chickens! And my fav on yours has got to be Love is a Stranger - I love that song, but never had a copy, but I really like the Yaz and Soul Coughing cuts as well. Your cd has a serious groove happening, and GOB's rocks with some absolutely amazing covers.

Thanks Stephanie, I'm going to tell my husband that, because, after all, I chose him as being marriage-worthy, so he will be flattered. And the really nice thing is, he is confident enough to put up with my school-girl crushes. I think he's the best.

You're cute too, Kellee.

Thanks Jas, I'll pass along your congrats to Eva. She really does make me proud.

ok i dunno what that is she got accepted in as im not as smart as her (haha) but WOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO
and high five for calling a spade a spade in regards to political defections...girls do it and theyre whores....men do it, theyre just weasly pricks.

Barbara Bruederlin said...

Jen, I'm not as smart as her either, but it's an advanced high school program that's standardized around the world, so is recognised by any university around the world.

And Eva is a real political animal - she's kinda scary actually.

Ruhee said...

ha ha ha, Eva being a 'political animal' is a hilarious description, but nonetheless fabulous. I don't know if I would say I have flourished in IB as I think I have become about six hundred and forty times weirder than I was when I started, but perhaps this is a resounding success.

Barbara Bruederlin said...

Ruhee, it IS a resounding success, trust me.

~Jen~ said...

my kid is smarter than me too...thats irritating...but whats worse is shes leaning SHALLOW and this disturbs me...lululemon...and all into hair and shit...ughhhh where did i go wrong...?

Barbara Bruederlin said...

It wasn't you, Jen, it's rebellion - she knows it bugs you. She'll get past it though. She sounds too smart not to tire of that game before long. Hang in there!
